Gestational Diabetes also called as the diabetes during pregnancy . Those who develop gestational diabetes are at higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life .
This is most found in the last three month of pregnancy .

if the woman is having pre-existing diabetes it can cause early labor , birth defects and larger than average infant sometime .
During a normal pregnancy , many maternal physiological changes are occurring and hence there is a need of insulin for the body due to accelerated hormonal changes , it needs to secrete more insulin in order to regulate blood glucose level .
The risk of maternal diabetes to the developing foetus include miscarriage , growth restrictions , mild neurological defects .
in some studies 4% to 11% of infants born in type 1 diabetic women had defects compared to 1% of infants born in the general population
There are some simple steps we need to follow :-
Eat a healthy low sugar diet .Follow a meal plan made for someone with diabetes .
Trade sugary snacks like cookies , candy and ice cream for natural sugar like fruits ,carrot and raisins . Add vegetables and whole grain .
Get active as soon as possible .Aim for 30 minutes of moderate activity like running , swimming , working . So that you can lower your risk before you get pregnant by eating healthy diet , staying active and loosing extra weight .
